ASEACC attends the Singapore Business Federation's Internationalisation Action Committee Reception 2024

The Singapore Business Federation (SBF)'s Internationalisation Action Committee (IAC) held a networking reception, hosted by Pacific International Lines (PIL), for over 70 public and private sector leaders on 30 May 2024.  

 

The event was graced by Gabriel Lim, Permanent Secretary (Policy) of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Lee Chuan Teck, Chairman of Enterprise Singapore. Senior business leaders in attendance included the CEOs from Pacific International Lines (PIL), HSBC Singapore, Nomanbhoy & Sons, Changi Airports International, Top International, and Tat Hong Group, amongst others. 

 

The event marked the debut of the IAC, chaired by Mr SS Teo, Executive Chairman of PIL. The IAC serves to provide leadership and guidance to all SBF’s policy positions, partnership platforms, and capability programmes to help Singapore companies scale internationally. 

 

The Africa Southeast Asia Chamber of Commerce (ASEACC) was represented by Co-Chairman (Southeast Asia) and Executive Chairman of PIL, Mr S.S. Teo, Vice-Chairman (Southeast Asia) and Managing Director of Olam Agri, Mr V. Srivathsan, Chief Executive Officer of CrimsonLogic, Mr Lawrence Ng, and Advisory Board Chairman Paulo Gomes.  

 

Our special guests included Rana Kharadsheh, Managing Director (APAC) of CDPQ, and Jasmin Johnson, Executive Vice President of Pemandu Associates, from Malaysia.

The Chairman of SBF Mr Lim Ming Yan, and Mr S.S. Teo, Chairman of the IAC, opened the event with discussions on internationalisation and Singapore's place in today's business climate.  

 

SBF's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kok Ping Soon, went on to share about SBF's achievements in 2023, such as over 18,000 connections made and close to SGD160m of deals facilitated. He also shared other internationalisation success stories, such as in Saudi Arabia and South Korea, that were made possible with SBF's support. He emphasised the importance of internationalisation, calling upon the business leaders present to continue connecting Singapore's businesses with the world.

The Internationalisation Action Committee provides leadership and guidance to all SBF’s policy positions, partnership platforms, and capability programmes to help Singapore companies scale internationally. The Committee also oversees the GlobalConnect@SBF Working Committee and five business groups in key geographic markets to ensure that they remain relevant and impactful in the development of partnerships with local and foreign businesses or organisations to enhance our in-market capabilities, enrich our services, and expand our footprint globally.
