Wilmar's Footprint in Africa

Since entering Africa in 2000, Wilmar International Limited (Wilmar) has expanded its footprint to 16 countries on the continent, making it the largest producer of consumer pack edible oils, soaps and detergents in Africa with an extensive brand portfolio catering to the needs and tastes of every consumer.

In 2019, they commenced operation of a rice mill in Tanzania and an oilseed crushing plant in South Africa. New projects in the pipeline include an integrated edible oils refinery and a spread and shortening plant in South Africa and a peanut crushing plant in Senegal.

Wilmar's other initiatives with Africa
Apart from being a member of ASEACC, Wilmar is also a donor of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) - SBF Centre for African Studies (CAS), jointly established by NTU and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in 2014. The NTU-SBF CAS is to develop thought leadership and capacity amongst the private sector for doing business in Africa.

Wilmar also supports the KKH-CAS Scholarship which provides Nanyang Business School (NBS) students opportunities to open their horizons to the excitement and challenges of working in emerging market globally, including Africa.

The scholarship provides for 10-week internships at Wilmar's operations across the continent. Through the experience of working in a relatively unstructured business environment, the programme aims to inculcate in NBS students, a pioneering spirit, an entrepreneurial vision and sharp business acumen.
