The United Republic of Tanzania gained independence in the year 1961. Endowed with abundant resources, tourism assets and a strategic location, the country continues to see exciting market opportunities for both businesses and investors alike with the goal of becoming an industrialised middle-income country by 2025.

On 18 November 2021, our valued member Pacific International Lines (PIL) had the opportunity to host the visit of H.E. Dr Philip Mpango, Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania and his delegation, to a private Tanzania Singapore Business Networking Event. 
 

Mr SS Teo, Honorary Consulate of the United Republic of Tanzania in Singapore and Executive Chairman of PIL, delivered the opening remarks at the event - which was supported by the Africa Southeast Asia Chamber of Commerce (ASEACC) as well as the Singapore Business Federation (SBF).
 

Exclusive to the top corporate leaders in Singapore that have existing trade relations, investments and businesses in Tanzania/ Africa, attendees included our members (Olam, Wilmar, CrimsonLogic) and others such as Pavilion Energy, Surbana Jurong, Tolaram, and Nomanbhoy. Lenders/ financiers in attendance included: the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Standard Chartered Bank, and Mizuho Bank. 
 

In addition, we would like to thank Singapore’s Ambassador to Tanzania, H.E Douglas Foo, and Mr G.Jayakrishnan, Group Director from Enterprise Singapore, for gracing the event.
